Hoyo de Monterrey
owes its origin to the city of San Juan y Martinez, located in the heart of the Vuelta Abajo zone. The Hoyo de Monterrey plantation, one of the renowned Vegas de Primera, can be reached via a gate in the city’s main square, which bears the inscription “Hoyo de Monterrey. Jose Gener. 1960” is emblazoned on it.

The word “hoyo” literally means “hole” and in this case describes the deep location of the plantation along the fertile banks of the San Juan y Martinez river. The Spaniard Jose Gener first resorted to the name of his Vega in 1865 to create a
Habanos brand
to create.
