Don Alejandro's legacy
since 1997
Vegas Robaina was created by Habanos S.A. in 1997 as a tribute to Cuba's tobacco growers through the figure of Alejandro Robaina, who was recognised for the high yields of the finest wrapper leaf his plantations produced. The Robaina family has grown tobacco since 1845 on its land at Cuchillas de Barbacoa in the San Luis district, in the heart of the Vuelta Abajo. The word "vegas" in the name is the Cuban term for tobacco fields.
Habanos rates the brand medium to full. Every size is made totally by hand with long filler. Among the sizes the brand launched with in 1997 are the Unicos, a pirámide of 52 ring gauge and 156 mm, and the Don Alejandro, a double corona of 49 ring gauge and 194 mm, named after the grower himself. The range has always been compact, with only a handful of vitolas.
Smoke carries the Unicos and the Don Alejandro in their "5 Aniversario" versions, offered as aged single cigars.
No Vegas Robaina vitolas in stock at the moment.
