The gentle way in

Hoyo de Monterrey

since 1865

Hoyo de Monterrey is named after a tobacco plantation established by José Gener in San Juan y Martínez, in the heart of the Vuelta Abajo in Pinar del Río province. "Hoyo" means a hollow: the plantation lies low on fertile ground close to a river. Its entrance bears the inscription "Hoyo de Monterrey. José Gener. 1860". The cigar brand of the same name grew out of the tobacco from this site and is today one of the global brands of Habanos S.A.

Habanos rates Hoyo de Monterrey as light and describes the blend as delicate and aromatic, with great elegance and complexity. Every size is made totally by hand with long filler from the Vuelta Abajo. Among its best-known vitolas is the Double Corona, a long size of medium ring gauge, presented in 2019 as a Gran Reserva made with tobacco from the 2013 harvest. The Epicure sizes – Epicure No. 1, No. 2 and, since 2008, the Epicure Especial – are central to the range, together with the Petit Robustos (2004) and the Le Hoyo series, including Le Hoyo de San Juan and Le Hoyo de Río Seco.

Smoke carries the Double Coronas Gran Reserva Cosecha 2013, the Epicure No. 2 Reserva Cosecha 2012 and Diademas from 2004, offered as single cigars.
